Participants from abroad may fly to Narita International Airport or Haneda (Tokyo International Airport) and then transfer to Kyoto by Shinkansen from JR Tokyo station. It is more convenient and less expensive to take a flight to Kansai International Airport, if you find one from your country, and take a special express train JR Haruka.
From your lodging somewhere in Kyoto, you may get to the Seminar House by taking first Kyoto city subway Karasuma line up to the north, getting off at Kitayama or Matsugasaki station, and then taking a taxi. You may find more taxis available at Kitayama than at Matsugasaki. Alternatively you may take Keihan train to Demachi-yanagi terminal, transfer to Eizan train and get off at Shugakuin station. You may take a taxi from there, but if you are in good condition you may venture a 15 minutes walk to the east, up above the rural hillside.
We hire taxies for participants of ISSS2014 to come to the symposium site.
If you would like to get on the hired taxi, please get tougher at the exit 2 on the road of the underground station “MATSUGASAKI" (K02 on Karasuma line). Student staffs will be there, who will arrange for those who be there to share the taxi.
- Hired taxies leave at:
- 4:00pm and 4:30pm on 3rd Nov.
8:15am and 8:30am on 4th - 6th Nov.
The hired taxies will be available only the scheduled time above.
If you take a taxi by your own to come Kansai Seminar House, we are afraid but CANNOT refund the taxi fee in that case.
We also hire taxies for the way back to Matsugasaki underground station.
- The taxies leave for Matsugasaki station at:
- 9:15 pm on 3rd Nov.
8:00 pm on 4th Nov.
